Today Nature Climate Change has published a paper on the recent global warming slowdown and its connection with ocean heat uptake, authored by IC3 researchers.
According to recent observations, during the last decade there has been a slowdown in global warming. To explain such a pause, lots of scenarios have been discussed by the scientific community. The results of this study hence point at the key role of the ocean heat uptake in the recent warming slowdown.
This study shows that the recent global warming slowdown corresponds to the effect of the natural climate system variability, temporarily masking the impact of greenhouse gases emissions.
